This is an intimate and deep project that I have been working on for the last two years.
A complex project, a metaphor of the life journey expressed through multiple supports; painting, photography, video art and performance.
The multi-support allows me a deep and plural exploration of the same phenomenon or assumption.
It allows me to work at different times, different rhythms, different languages and unite them in a single discourse, languages that complement each other, enrich each other and favor a more complete expression.
I started developing the first ideas in June 2017, simultaneously with other works.
From a performance with María de Grandy ( I did not reach the Rem phase) and as a result of her texts that we used to build that action painting session, the need arose for me to delve into ideas that whispered things about trodden earth and eroded earth.
Concepts and reflections on the immersion of man, of the human being (or human animal) in his natural environment par excellence; In nature.
Their coexistence, their struggle, their denial, their laziness,
his abandonment.
Deepening the project was growing and mixing with other works. In several of them the central axis was a reflection on the relationship between human beings and their environment, the need for registration, the need for traces... traces that in many cases wound and degrade the natural habitat of man, traces that manifests as a meaningless proclamation of the most exalted ego...
Concepts such as resilience, understood from a closer, more physiological or biological field, with Darwinian connotations.
In my work I deal with the dissociated situation, from within and from without, from without as a human being that modifies the environment and from within as Nature that absorbs and returns this modification.
Presented in its entirety, for the first time, in the Caja Sur Exhibition Hall, in Algeciras; large and medium format painting, photographic installation, sculptural installation (a piece made together with Javier Machimbarrena in a performance session, ( "El Vacío Fértil" ) and installation of VideoArte Another performance “When you took the fire” is also part of the project.
In both works, the idea of resilience and structured overcoming is explored in specific approaches to work and presentation.
Paint
The series of pictorial works, in an open and mutable process, comprise an evolution of my emotions and sensations through the conceptual basis that shapes the entire project; different supports, sizes and techniques, different states, successive days, changes and ruptures are reflected in gestural painting. Soft and energetic at the same time, subtle and violent, full of contrasts. The static two-dimensional support, a stable record of a disintegration process. The materials, pigments and resin, stick oil, graphite, anilines, used with a certain rudiment create a vibrant, transparent and changing atmosphere.
Photography, Video Art,
In an undetermined natural space that meets the necessary requirements, I am making a long-range tour passing through the different systems, immersing them physically and conceptually;
plain, valley, river, mountain. Sand, earth, silt, clay, stone.
Each enclave has its own registry.
Each material emits its own sound, a unique and different song.
Like Coral, the idea is to nourish myself with the materials that I find, earth, mud, water, leaves, interact with them and make a poetic record of fusion and harmony with the environment.
A metaphorical journey in which I will finally be absorbed by the landscape.
Since April 2018, for an undetermined number of days, depending on factors beyond my control (weather, synchronicity, multifunction, accident) and controlled factors (discourse, timing, sequence, drift, route) I have dived in different landscapes that are part of my most personal network.
The transformation of these landscapes due to natural and artificial causes are the sustenance and soul of this project, of this reflection.
All these interventions were documented with videos, photographs and a field notebook as a log.
In this way I have created an archive of images, emotions, sensations and physical materials; Artist's Book and digital material that have concluded in the assembly of this piece of Video Art.
Performance, Installation
Several performative actions were projected in the second part of the project, some directly framed in exhibitions and events and another as a way of reflection and closure, proposing a collection of significant materials with the to create a "natural situation" out of its context that will culminate in a series of performance acts in urban centers.
Finally, two performances were carried out within the framework of the project; WHEN YOU TAKE THE FIRE and THE FERTILE VOID, two proposals revolving around the axis of the concept of resilience.
